ABOUT
Thank you for visiting! We are family-operated bed and breakfast set in the historic lumber mill office building of the Edward Hines Lumber Company. We currently offer four unique guest rooms and event and meeting spaces. We're ideal for family and work groups (you can rent the whole home), recreational adventurers, business and work travelers, and those looking for a comfortable one-night respite. Throughout the inn, you'll find museum quality relics from days gone by. You'll take a step back in time when you stay with us, and we hope you'll enjoy our slice of eastern Oregon as much as we do!
In addition to the inn, we can accommodate various events - conferences, birthdays, weddings, receptions, paint nights, classes, dances, markets, and workshops. Homecooked breakfast is available with every reservation, along with a 24/7 breakfast bar. We do our best to accommodate dietary needs.

Laundry facilities are available for 24-hour use on a self-service basis.
Housekeeping Upon Request
For those who opt to stay with us for several nights, we offer housekeeping to freshen the rooms as needed.

A wonderful outdoor area is available to our guests, including a fire pit and picnic table.

Recreational living space is ready for your enjoyment, including a common-area TV, board games, card table, darts, and pool table.

Part of the charm of a traditional Bed & Breakfast is getting to know the people who pass through. We have had visitors spanning from Eastern Oregon to West Africa and everywhere in between, and love trading stories with our guests.

Bird Watching
Harney County is known for its abundance of migratory birds during the spring season. There are many species to spot and study. We host an annual bird festival in April.
Malheur National Wildlife Refuge
A crown jewel of the national wildlife refuge system, Malheur Refuge protects a fast complex of habitats in Oregon's high desert. Malheur is a mecca for wildlife enthusiasts.

Leisure Activities
Hines has a wonderful family park, as does neighboring Burns. Take a walk on the Burns Nature Trail, connecting Burns and Hines. Stargazing is also great here in the high desert.
Pete French Round Barn
Located about an hour southeast of Burns, the Pete French Round Barn is a monument to one man's livestock empire. Uniquely created to train wild horses to take goods to market.
Steens Mountains
Featuring 170,166 acres of wilderness and an elevation of nearly 10,000 feet, Steens Mountain has lakes, hiking trails, wild horses and the Riddle Brothers ranch.
Crystal Crane Hot Springs
This hot spring location became a booming resort in the early 1930's. Crystal Crane Hot Springs provides family fun in a large pond, while private tubs offer a more intimate setting.
Alvord Desert
Oregon's high desert lake bed is 84 square miles. It was the site where the world's fastest womens land speed record was set in 1972 and 2019. It is also home to Alvord Hot Springs.
BLM Wild Horse Corrals
This site was developed to manage populations of wild horses and burros. By appointment, you can tour the grounds to view these beautiful animals and also arrange adoption.
Diamond Craters
BLM calls Diamond Craters the "Geologic Gem of Oregon." 40 miles of auto tour weaves through diverse basaltic volcanic landscapes and features, including craters, cones, lava tubes, spires, and a water-filled maar.
Frenchglen
Frenchglen is an unincorporated community in Harney County. It has a population of approximately 12. Frenchglen is near the Steens Mountains and Malheur National Wildlife Refuge, and is home to the historic Frenchglen Hotel.
